• Step 5: Close Excel by clicking the Ok button
• Step 6: Restart Microsoft Outlook.

  Disable Outlook Add-ins

• Step 1: Open Microsoft Outlook

• Step 6: Restart Microsoft Outlook.

  Clear Outlook’s Secure Temp Folder

Other Excel files or templates in Outlook’s Secure Temp folder could also be the cause of Excel attachments not opening correctly or with an error. The Secure Temp folder is where Outlook stores attachments that are being opened directly from within Outlook. This Secure Temp folder is not always cleared correctly under certain circumstances. In that situation, you can physically clean it and check if the attachment now opens appropriately.

• Step 1: Type in the path address on Windows Explorer : C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache\Content.Outlook
• Step 2: Delete the files located in the folder.
