enterprise software complexities

Lot of detail goes into any enterprise systems. But most of the times users of enterprise software applications are always left out when it comes to usability, user experience and feature discovery. Partly it is due to the applications being feature rich covering many scenarios that it is impossible to give as much time to design user interface as a consumer facing application. It is also due to the expectation that the intelligence level of a enterprise application user would be more than the average and he will some how find his way through the app.

At vision level above two problems are just few of the issues we are trying to solve using Anakage solution for enterprises. Our assistance layer on top of application makes it easy for users to navigate the software by guiding him through the tasks, showing hints when he needs, bringing him back to workflow when he is deviating. Our application understands what user is doing, what he has done, what he can do, what he wants to do and guides him to complete his task. All without making any changes to the base application.

At technology level we are not purely content like videos or simulations which runs in their own shell independent from application. For user it is always a multistage process. Watch a video – memorize few steps – come back to application and do it – go back to video and look at few more steps – back to application and do it – repeat the process until task is done. We make it simple for users – we are integrated inside application in a way that we feel as if part of application helping you perform the task. It is as simple as start a task – follow the steps and do it till completion.

At feature level we cover following scenarios –

  1. Cover use cases of training new employees by showing videos, text files, practice and test inside live application
  2. Support use cases for it to be used during on the job through search functionality and context based listing. Messages and hints can can be added in live application without needing any code changes.
  3. Supports field level validations and force users through appropriate paths. It reduces the code changes needed to achieve certain functionality without needing any code changes from applications. Most of the user workflow support cases can be solved without changing the application in shorter time.
  4. Supports service desk workflows – make needed content available to users and track if it solves his service desk request.
  5. The documentation changes are less costly. For example – a minor workflow change can cause whole video to change. Our content might work without any changes or need very less changes.
  6. Support for most of the enterprise applications like SAP, Oracle, Epicor, Dynamics, Salesforce etc.
  7. Support for desktop and browser applications.
  8. Support of various deployment scenarios like desktop app protected by serial key or user login, app running inside virtual machines, application running on cloud etc.
  9. Integration of existing documentation like videos, pdf files and many other formats.

Always keeps the user in center by making his application usage experience engaging

We will cover more details in coming posts. For now please watch below video to get a glimpse of our solution –
