Solution:

1. Give apps access to your microphone and camera.  

Firstly, ensure that your computer’s apps have permission to use the camera and microphone.

•  Step 1: Go to Settings > Privacy > Camera on the left-hand pane, and turn on Allow Apps to Access Your Camera.

• Step 2: Next, in the left-hand pane, choose Microphone and activate the Allow Apps to Access Camera Hardware option.

2. Give Skype access to your webcam and microphone  

Next, check that Skype has authorization to access your device’s camera and microphone.

• Step 1: Select Camera in the left pane of Settings > Privacy. Go to the “Choose which apps can access your camera” section in the right-hand pane and turn ON the slider next to Camera.

• Step 2: Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and turn on the slider next to Skype.

• Step 3: In the left-pane, choose Microphone. Go to the “Allow Apps to Access your Microphone” area in the right-hand window and flip the toggle next to Skype to ON.

• Step 4: Restart your computer.

3. Repair the Skype application  

The Skype App might get corrupted occasionally, and this can be repaired by utilizing the Repair App feature in Windows 10.

• Step 1: Go to Settings > Apps > on the left pane,

• Step 2: Choose Apps & Features.

• Step 3: Go to Skype > Advanced settings in the right-hand pane.

• Step 4: Scroll down to the Repair button on the following screen.

• Step 5: Restart your computer.

4. Reset Skype  

You can Reset Skype App if the repair option did not work. This essentially uninstalls and reinstalls Skype on your PC.

• Step 1: Go to Settings > Apps > on the left pane.

• Step 2: Choose Apps & Features.

• Step 3: Scroll down to Skype > Advanced settings in the right-hand window.

• Step 4: On the following screen, press the Reset button.

• Step 5: To confirm, click Reset on the confirmation pop-up.

• Step 6: Restart Skype

5. Reset Network Configuration   

Problems with the network can sometimes prevent Skype from operating correctly. As a result, use the commands below to resolve network-related issues on your computer.

• Step 1: Open a Command Prompt window and type ipconfig /release, then press Enter. This will reveal your computer’s current IP address.

• Step 2: Next, run ipconfig /renew and press Enter to renew your computer’s IP address.

• Step 3: Run the netsh winsock reset, netsh int ip reset, ipconfig /flushdns, and ipconfig /registerdns procedures in a similar manner.

• Step 4: Restart your computer after closing the Command Prompt window.
