1. Windows Canât Install Windows Updates
The issue arises because Windows Update files get corrupted due to the problem. As a result, the issue can be resolved by removing the corrupted files, which can be done by following these steps:
- Press Win+R keys and open Run.
- Type âC:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Downloadâ and hit enter.
- Delete all the files/folders in the directory that opens. Launch Windows in âsafe modeâ and delete if you are unable to delete some files.
- Restart your PC and try updating again.

2. Windows Store is unable to Install or Update Apps
The issue comes as a result of your system’s overabundance of cache files. Cleaning those cached files could remedy the problem, which can be done by following these steps:
- Press Win+R keys and open the Run dialog.
- Type âWSReset.exeâ and press enter.
- A blank, black window will open, which will close after a short period of time.
- After that, the Windows Store should open, and if it doesn’t, go ahead and open it and try installing or updating programs.

3. Canât Find âOpen withâ in Windows.
This is a rare occurrence, but it is almost certainly caused by missing or corrupted system files or configuration settings following the upgrade to Windows 10. Following these actions will resolve the problem:
- Open Notepad and type:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\Openwith]@=â{09799AFB-AD67-11d1-ABCD-00C04FC30936}â
- Save the file. Go to File > Save as (not Save), and put âOpenwith.regâ as filename and choose âAll filesâ > click OK.
- Close Notepad and double-click the file to open.
- Click on Yes and try using âOpen withâ now.

4. Canât Open Start Menu in Windows 10
Even when clicking the Windows key on the keyboard or the Start button on the Windows taskbar, the Start menu or screen does not appear. This is most likely due to incorrect system file installation. Please follow the actions outlined below to resolve this issue:
- Go to the Run dialog by pressing Win+R
- Type âsfc /scannowâ and hit Enter.
- A blank command prompt will open and close immediately.
- Restart the PC and check if the issue is resolved.
In case it did not work, then follow the following process:
- Look for âcmdâ, and right-click to select âRun as administratorâ
- Type âDism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealthâ and press Enter
- Restart the PC and check if the issue is resolved.

5. Windows Search Canât Find any Applications
This problem usually comes up because of a buggy Windows 10 update, but the latest update will remove it. If you still face this issue, you can follow the steps outlined below to solve the issue:
- Go to âTask Managerâ
- Kill the process âExplorer.exeâ
- Press Win+R and open the Run window.
- Type âregeditâ and hit Enter.
- The registry editor opens, now delete the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FolderTypes\{ef87b4cb-f2ce-4785-8658-4ca6c63e38c6}\TopViews\{00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}
- In the Task Manager, go to File > Run new task
- Type in âexplorer.exeâ and press OK
On Windows 10, you should also consider turning off Cortana. It’s not very useful, uses a lot of battery, and causes a lot of issues.
